Yamashita Kyodaitachi

We spent the weekend with the Yamashita family!

Brother Yamashita was Dad's trainer in Nagoya, Japan.

They served as companions twice :) 

 Their daughter Haruka was married on Friday 

in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple to Alex.

Hence, the visit from Japan.

 Ron Lundstrom, who lives with his family 

5 doors down the street, also served in Nagoya 

and was a companion to Brother Yamashita as well!

 We had a fun family dinner together

after attending Music and the Spoken Word and church.

 Michael translated for the Yamashitas in church :)

 Yesterday we visited Pioneer Village,

Temple Square and the Conference Center, etc.

These three served in Nagoya together 33 years ago!

Sister Yamashita was a missionary in Nagoya as well!!

 Here's to the next 33 years!!

Hope gave a beautiful talk this morning about how our faith is strengthened through adversity.  

We'll miss you,  Hope!!  May the Lord bless you in Riverside, CA!

It was fun to see everyone there. 

 Especially noted was the grand efforts of Liz and Dave 

who drove up for a 9:00 meeting from Prove with their two sick, red headed kids! 

And what's this about Hannah and Scott going to Turkey for a month next week??

Glimpses

Some see the world as a dark and scary place, especially after a terrifying experience like the bombing yesterday at the Boston Marathon.  Ironically, at times like this I am able to see that most people are beings of light...and love, who are only clothed in terrestrial bodies.  When fellow human beings are injured before us, this love and light comes shining through and we reach out to one another.  I am thankful for these stirring glimpses, and wish this godly nature could be exposed more in the routine of our daily lives.
